Pizza Grace

decently chunk

Pizza Grace: Located downtown, a rather small but also rather tasty pizza spot off Morris Avenue. They’ve been Michelin recommended a few times, so that’s pretty cool. We ordered the Garlic Bread with stracciatella (the inside part of a ball of buratta) and a Burrata pizza with pepperoni on half and roasted garlic ranch on the side for dipping/topping.

Garlic bread with stracciatella

John’s Take: Pizza Grace is pretty solid. Though my biggest complaints are that they don’t pre-cut the garlic bread for you, which makes it a serious mess to try and eat/cut yourself, and that they cut their pizza slices way too big, which leads to a sad floppy slice. The taste is pretty good, though not my favorite pizza. I wish their crust was just a tiny bit more crispy on the main parts (as mentioned above, sad and soggy near the middle especially). Over-all I’d go back, but it would not be my first choice for pizza anywhere around Birmingham.

Callie’s Take: I have a soft spot in my heart for Pizza Grace because I think they have the best garlic bread I’ve ever had in my life. The dough is nice and plush, it’s a little oily but not to the point you have to wipe your hands after you eat, and not so garlicky that it’s overwhelming. Adding the stracciatella for dipping makes it nice and creamy and even more indulgent. I wish it was pre-cut, because the knife is just the slightest bit too dull when you first get the dish and using your hands to tear it seems wrong in a nicer place like Pizza Grace.

When I saw the Fall 2026 menu, I knew we had to get the buratta pizza because I’m absolutely obsessed with buratta. The marinara had a great flavor, the garlic confit was delicious without being overwhelming garlicky, the stracciatella was generously poured across the surface of the pizza, and the basil added a light herby note. Drizzling some of the roasted garlic ranch added a great tang to the overall flavor of the slice. The menu listed parmigiano cheese as an additional pizza topping, but unless it was grated super thinly and blended in with the other toppings really well, I did not see it on the pizza.

Overall, I do think Pizza Grace holds up to the Michelin Bib Gourmand that touts restaurants with high-quality food at a great value — our total after a 20% tip was $60 and we were all full after our meals. It’s also one-of-its-kind in Birmingham in that it’s an upscale pizzeria (it’s literally in the name). All the other higher-end places in town that serve pizza are Italian restaurants with a larger menu, typically including pasta. That being said, Pizza Grace is definitely a once-in-a-while special treat type of restaurant instead of a randomly-picking-pizza-up-on-your-way-home-from-work type of restaurant.

Annie’s Take: Great little place downtown but I think my biggest complaint here is the thickness of the undercarriage of the pizza. Garlic bread is great, its got a solid garlic flavor with heaps of sliced allium stalks on top and paired with the stracciatella—it rarely misses. I might be in the minority that likes more bottom crust with my pizzas, but as soon as I picked up my first slice all the toppings slide off of the thinnest soggiest bottom crust I’ve ever seen. The second slice was much better. Props to it not being burned this time though. Crust was decent if not a tad on the thick size.

We got the Burrata pizza with roasted garlic ranch. The flavor is good though its not really anything revolutionary. I think if you need extra sauce to really get a good experience then the pizza isn’t good enough. For a place that’s named Pizza Grace that’s a little bit of a let down. The dining room is rather small and it gets pretty loud. Above average, but not living up to the Bib Gourmand it has. Definitely not my first choice in Birmingham for pizza.
